摘要: The effect of a refresher course for elderly drivers was evaluated on mobility and accident risk. Compared to a randomly selected group of drivers aged 65 years or older, the course participants had reduced their risk of being involved in a traffic accident by 22 to 35 percent one year after completing the course. This reduction was, however, not statistically significant. Based upon a 22% reduction of accident risk, the estimated benefit of the course was three times larger than the cost. The the course did not seem to affect elderly drivers' mobility or their experience of insecurity while driving.
