Although various Advanced Driver Assistance Systems (ADAS) have been developed to assist drivers,their functionality and driver acceptance in China were not well analyzed previously.This study aims to examine how do driver gender and age affect ADAS performance and driver acceptance of these systems by means of Field Operational Tests (FOT).Thirty-three participants were recruited to drive an equipped vehicle on the test route in and around Beijing.Data were recorded by CAN bus,cameras,and a post-drive questionnaire.Effects of driver gender and age on the functionality and driver acceptance of ADAS were analyzed.Results indicated that driver age,rather than gender,was the most important factor influencing driver acceptance of the systems.In terms of ADAS functionality,driver gender had significant effects only on forward collision warning system.The findings may greatly influence previous results and contribute to the development of future ADAS for car manufacturers. |
