China's automotive market experienced rapid growth in the past several decades. The impact on the energy consumption and greenhouse gas(GHG)emissions become great concerns. In this study, a model based on life-cycle assessment(LCA)method- ology is established to estimate the GHG emissions caused by vehicle use in China from 2015 to 2050. Three scenarios are designed to de- scribe different penetration of electric vehicles and total vehicle sales. In these scenarios, the GHG emissions will separately decrease 34. 4%, 19. 8%, and 40. 9%in 2050 compared with that in 2015. The results indicate that the promotion of electric vehicles will effec- tively reduce the GHG emissions after 2035. Besides, the limitation of total sales of vehicles can also markedly reduce the emissions. |
