Phase 2: Strategies for Reducing Pedestrian and Bicyclist Injury at the Corridor Level (SMART)
项目名称: Phase 2: Strategies for Reducing Pedestrian and Bicyclist Injury at the Corridor Level (SMART)
摘要: In addition to identifying and recommending improvements for high collision concentration locations, it is also valuable to seek blanket improvements that can be implemented across the region of interest. This task develops a tool to identify safety countermeasures that can be implemented systemically across sites with similar characteristics. To accomplish this, crashes along the study region are counted for specific crash type and facility type pairs. The data is then assembled in a matrix that provides a snapshot of what types of crashes are occurring on what types of facilities and helps in identifying the “systemic hotpsots”. This approach also provides guidance about the possible set of countermeasures that can be used to reduce the specific type of crashes for each facility type.
