Predicting PCI from IRI in Washington,DC
项目名称: Predicting PCI from IRI in Washington,DC
摘要: The District of Columbia Department of Transportation (DDOT) conducts pavement condition assessments each year to determine the health status of the roadway network and program improvements such as maintenance, resurfacing, rehabilitation and reconstruction. The annual condition assessment typically collects both pavement distress data and ride quality data. Pavement distress data is analyzed by technicians and combined to generate the overall Pavement Condition Index (PCI) by block. The ride quality details converted by computer algorithms into the International Roughness Index (IRI). The two measures are related. In order to eliminate the human subjectivity in reporting the PCI, a number of departments of transportation have established relationships between IRI and PCI based on which the PCI can be predicted from the IRI. This research will establish a similar relationship for pavement distress conditions in the District of Columbia, reducing subjectivity in the calculations, and saving money and man-hours for the review and rating of PCI.
