摘要: The strength and durability of highway bridges are two key components in maintaining a high level of freight transportation capacity on the nation's highways. Superhydrophobic Engineered Cementitious Composites (SECC) is a new advanced concrete material with polyvinyl alcohol fibers and hydrophobic compounds, which is under development by the current National Center for Freight and Infrastructure Research and Education (CFIRE) project 05-10.The SECC is an effective substitute to conventional concrete that can provide the strength and durability demanded in key regions of highway bridges. The proposed project will deal with technology transfer and implementation of the developed SECC.
