Early Detection of Joint Distress in Portland Cement Concrete Pavements
项目名称: Early Detection of Joint Distress in Portland Cement Concrete Pavements
摘要: Portland Cement Concrete Pavements (PCCP) have shown the potential to deteriorate at joints. While ongoing research is being conducted to determine the mechanisms that contribute to this deterioration, it has been identified (SPR 3200) that water/fluid saturation is a primary cause. It has been shown (ISB, SPR 3523) that specific sealers can slow the penetration of fluids and extend the life of the concrete pavement. Currently however the damage becomes visible at a point that is too late to enable the use of potential repairs. This research investigates the use of methods to determine which joints may be susceptible to damage. In doing so it is believed that corrective actions can be taken to cost-effectively extend the life of the pavement.
