Complete Streets is a transportation policy and design approach that requires streets to be planned, designed, operated, and maintained to enable safe, convenient and comfortable travel and access for users of all ages and abilities regardless of their mode of transportation. Researchers will assess the economic effects on small town business of projects that are developed using the Complete Streets approach. They will work with the Technical Advisory Panel to select several study sites (improvement sites and control sites), conduct multiple case studies, and use difference-in-differences to quantify the impacts. Lastly, the team will put together a consistent set of economic metrics, with both qualitative and quantitative measures, that MnDOT and local transportation agencies can use to evaluate and communicate the impact of context-sensitive main street highways. |
