摘要: Roads are the backbone of the development of a country. India with its second largest road network globally is through a rapid development phase. Several infrastructural projects are under work requiring huge economic support to upgrade the country's road network. Humongous quantities of materials are required to carry these projects further, same is happening with nearly all developing countries around the globe. Concrete is the most widely used construction material, which upon construction demolition could be obtained in a healthy percentage as high as about 70 % from demolition sites. Recycled concrete aggregate is a valuable resource, which could be used for various construction applications. This study is an effort to examine the impacts of inclusion of recycled concrete aggregates in pavement quality concrete mix. This study investigates the effects of moisture state of recycled concrete aggregates incorporated in preparation of new concrete under different moisture conditions and at different levels of incorporations. Four moisture states were considered in the study namely-AD (As received state), OD (Oven Dried state), SSD (Saturated Surface Dry state) and FSD (Fully saturated state). Primary coarse aggregates were partially replaced by recycled concrete aggregates at incorporation levels of 20%, 30%, 40% and 50%. The concrete prepared thereafter was investigated for their properties in fresh and hardened states. The results from study indicate that recycled concrete aggregates could be incorporated for concrete production in SSD moisture state up to a replacement level of 30% for coarse aggregates.
