This presentation addresses issues in airspace and airport system simulation studies using the detailed policy assessment tool (DPAT) by giving an overview of (1) the definition of DPAT, (2) samples of recent studies using DPAT, (3) excerpts from a sample DPAT study (1997), and (4) current DPAT applications. The DPAT is an ultrafast time, global air traffic simulation that can model current and future air traffic for any world region. The tool can represent airports and airspace as a network of finite-capacity resources. |
