摘要：	This circular reports on the proceedings of a workshop sponsored by the Transportation Research Board on statewide travel demand forecasting. The workshop was held in Irvine, California on December 6-8, 1998 and was attended by participants from 35 state departments of transportation, the U.S. Department of Transportation, private consulting firms and several universities. The purpose of the conference was to provide practitioners in the field of statewide travel forecasting the opportunity to exchange information and experiences on methods for forecasting statewide travel for both persons and freight. The objective of the conference was to identify the state of the practice in the field of statewide travel demand forecasting, critical issues in developing and applying forecasting procedures and research needs in the field. The contents are as follows: Overview, N.J. Pedersen; Questions and Issues for Discussion; General Welcome, A. Hendrix; Introduction, N.J. Pedersen; Speeches by K. Leonard, Y. Llort, L. Lambert, C. Howard, A. Hendrix, and B. Gorman; twelve conference presentations (entered individually in the TRIS database); Research Recommendations; Discussion and Notes - Group 1, 2, 3, and 4; and Appendices [Statewide Model Conference Survey (condensed); Summmary of Question Topics; Agenda for Workshop; and Participants].
