Heathrow Airport accepts that some services may be withdrawn following its decision to suspend financial support for local bus routes from 1 January. It is also phasing out the Heathrow Free Travel Zone around the airport and has stopped selling the Heathrow Travelcard, which provided subsidised travel for airport workers who used non-Transport for London services. The airport operator says it hopes the measure, which it blames on the impact of Covid-19 on its finances, will be short-lived. It says that it is working with operators to see if they can continue to offer discounted travel without financial support. Go-Ahead Group's Carousel Buses has withdrawn service 102 (High Wycombe-Heathrow Airport) between Uxbridge and Heathrow. This section of route was suspended when the first Covid-19 lockdown began in March so the change merely formalises the position. |
