摘要：	The paper describes the proposed development of a waterfront as a tourist gateway to Gabon on the West coast of Africa. The tourism situation in Gabon is briefly described as well as the South African promoters of the project. The proposed site for initial development is located adjacent to Port Mole the old port of Libreville, which was constructed in 1954. The development will be carried out in phases, the first phase being the development of an activity centre consisting of entertainment, restaurants and retail outlets, offices, residential developments and hotels. It is important that the development should be underpinned by local support but serve as a gateway for international tourists from where they can be distributed to other destinations in Gabon. A second site located to the north of the airport in Libreville will be developed to incorporate cultural facilities, hotels, restaurant, boats clubs and basins, a residential marina development, schools, hospitals, sports clubs and a residential golf course as well as supporting retail facilities.
