摘要: THE POSSIBILITIES OF USING AIR PHOTO INTERPRETATION IN HIGHWAY PLANNING ARE TO BE INVESTIGATED, WITH THE EMPHASIS ON OBTAINING INFORMATION RELEVANT TO THE ENVIRONMENT. THE FOLLOWING SUBJECT AREAS ARE ANTICIPATED: (A) PRESENT LAND USE: TYPES OF CULTIVATION, SPECIAL CULTIVATION, RECOGNITION AND DEFINITION OF MOIST AREAS, BOGS; SELECTION OF POSSIBLE DEPOSITS; (B) EXISTING GROWTH: NUMBER OF TREES, BUSHES, HEDGES, ETC; SEPARATION OF GROWTH WORTHY OF MAINTENANCE, ESPECIALLY RIVER BANK GROWTH, GROWTH TO PROTECT AGAINST WIND, ETC; (C) MORPHOLOGY AND SUBSOIL: TERRACES, SLIDES, SETTLEMENTS, ETC; PREPARATION OF SUBSOIL INVESTIGATIONS; PRELIMINARY SELECTION OF EXPLORATION POINTS; LOCALISATION OF POSSIBLE GRAVEL DEPOSITS; SELECTION OF SAMPLING AND DEPOSIT SURFACES; (D) WATER NETWORKS: STATE OF DEVELOPMENT; EXPLORATIONS OF WATER CONDUCTION IN THE SUBSOIL AND IN THE CATCHMENT AREAS OF SOURCES, PLANNING OF AREAS OF RETENTION; (E) EXISTING CONSTRUCTION AND TRAFFIC NETWORK: ACCESS ROADS, SUPPLEMENT TO EXISTING MAPS; ESTIMATION OF SETTLEMENT DENSITY IN THE AREAS AFFECTED BY PLANNING; DETERMINATION OF FACTORS WHICH AFFECT THE PROPAGATION OF NOISE; CONCLUSIONS ON THE FUNCTION OF DEVELOPMENT AND THE TRAFFIC GENERATED BY NEW ROADS. IN ALL CASES THE INFORMATION OBTAINED BY AIR PHOTOS WILL BE COMPARED WITH TOPOGRAPHIC MAPS AND OTHER DOCUMENTS, INCLUDING AERIAL PHOTOGRAPHS OF COMPLETED OR CURRENT PLANNING WORK. IN PARTICULAR THE FOLLOWING ARE TO BE CHECKED: THE DATA WHICH CAN BE DETERMINED FOR LAND EVALUATION FROM AERIAL PHOTOGRAPHS; THE EXTENT TO WHICH PENETRATION INTO THE COUNTRYSIDE CAN BE RELIABLY ASSESSED BY THE USE OF AERIAL PHOTOGRAPHS, AND THE CONCLUSIONS WHICH CAN BE DRAWN WITH REGARD TO PROTECTIVE MEASURES (FOR EXAMPLE NOISE PROTECTION).
