| 摘要： | This technical note documents lightning climatologies developed by AFCCC for regions of the central and western CONUS. This climatology was developed from a database of cloud-to-ground lightning strikes that occurred from March through October during 1986-91. Analysis of the lightning climatology showed that patterns of lightning strikes compared favorably with known preferred locations and times of thunderstorm development. It also showed that stratification of the lightning climatologies by 700-mb wind directions is useful in revealing locations of lightning-strike patterns and their movement. |
