Understanding Perceptions of Transportation for Livable Communities
项目名称: Understanding Perceptions of Transportation for Livable Communities
摘要: Older adults often face the decision of whether to relocate or to age in their current communities as they approach retirement age. While many factors impact this decision, transportation is an increasingly important component of successful aging that should be considered. This study will investigate the importance of transportation in older adults decisions to age-in-place or to relocate. Specifically, this research will examine where transportation ranks in the decision-making process as compared to other factors, such as proximity to family and friends, access to healthcare, and housing considerations. This study will utilize both interviews and a national survey to understand where transportation fits in to peoples retirement plans and how mobility does or does not play a significant role in relocation decisions. This study will also compare peoples perceptions of accessibility and mobility within their communities to objective ratings of transportation using existing livable rating systems.
