In order to achieve as good traffic management as possible in connection with incidents, effective decision support for operations at the traffic management centers is needed. Safety at the incident site for road users as well as rescue resources, of course, has first priority. However, the choice of actions and timing for the same also affects capacity and accessibility. However, at the present time it is difficult to estimate the effects of a presumptive measure as knowledge about how different types of incidents and measures affect capacity and accessibility is limited. The purpose of the project is to establish a link for how different types of incidents affect both the capacity and the traffic fundamentals (both in the incident direction and the opposite direction). This in order to enable analyzes of various incident management principles and travel time predictions in case of incidents. |
