Full‐depth reclamation (FDR) is a pavement rehabilitation technique in which the full thickness of an asphalt pavement and a predetermined portion of the underlying materials (base, subbase, and/or subgrade) are uniformly pulverized, blended and compacted to provide an upgraded, homogeneous material, which results in a stabilized base course. KYTC has used the FDR process to treat asphalt
pavements exhibiting widespread base failures pursuant to a Special Note for Cement Stabilization. KYTC, following a previous SPR study, has organized and consolidated information about FDR to produce an implementable set of guidelines, criteria, and specifications on the topic. |
