Evaluation of Stabilized Full Depth Reclamation (SFDR)
项目名称: Evaluation of Stabilized Full Depth Reclamation (SFDR)
摘要: Full depth reclamation (FDR) is an asphalt pavement rehabilitation technology which pulverizes the existing hot mix asphalt (HMA) concrete layers and a portion of the underlying aggregate base to produce an improved base layer. Bituminous materials or cement are often added to create a stabilized full depth reclamation (SFDR) layer. The technology is primarily used as a lower-cost alternative of road reconstruction or HMA overlay method for low-volume road renewal projects. FDR has been used in various states for decades. The interests of the state highway agencies (SHA) on this technology were increasing in the past a few years due to the increasing gap between pavement maintenance needs and available financial resources. However, a nationwide accepted design method is still absent. Implementations of the FDR technology rely on the experiences of engineers and contractors; and their experiences have not been well documented yet. The objective of the proposed research project is to document the local experiences of FDR implementations in terms of design and performance which may be used to develop a SFDR design method that suits the materials, traffic, and climate in Minnesota or improve the current FDR construction specification.
