The project consists of two main parts. The first part of the project will focus on evaluating a new developed testing approach that can be used to estimate the dynamic properties of unbound materials using simple, cheap and time saving field and laboratory equipment such as the light weight deflectometers and/or the dynamic CBR test. These tests can help the roads' contractors in controlling the compaction degree of the unbound materials during the construction process easily with almost no construction delays. In the second part, empirical and statistical equations will be developed to correlate the dynamic materials properties obtained from these simple tests to the dynamic materials properties obtained using the dynamic triaxial tests for different types of unbounds materials used in roads construction in Sweden. In this project, the efforts will also focus on finding new relations in which the outputs of the dynamic simple CBR tests can be used as input data to Mechanistic-Empirical Pavement Design software. |
