Emission models are important tools for analysis of transport infrastructure designs as well as yearly follow-up of air quality. Emission models offer a possibility to go from traffic data to energy consumption and emission of harmful pollutants. Independent on if the application is on a detailed or aggregated level, driving cycles are a crucial component of these models. Despite driving cycles being critical for emission and energy calculations, it is very difficult to access these type of data for all vehicles along a road section, which have required video recordings from high buildings. In this project we see a new possibility to collect this type of data using radar towers that has been put up in the Stockholm highway network for the purpose of monitoring e.g. standstill vehicles or pedestrians on the road. The aim of the project is to evaluate the aggregated emission relationships commonly used in Sweden today and improve the quality of the emission models. |
