摘要：	The purpose of the project is analyze the modelling of empty trains in Samgods and their impact on Samgods. It is a prestudy, that may be followed by implementation of an alternative method in a follow up project. Below we present in short aspects to study for empty train handling in general, and for Samgods in particular. 1. Samgods background. Standard logistics model and rail capacity management; 2. Short literature review (update of a Ph D thesis on the subject); 3. To describe how the empty train handling in done in practice; 4. Analysis of available statistics on empty train flows; 5. To compare current method in Samgods with fixed add-on fractions for empties compared to empty flows in practice (provided they can be identified). Would a method for balancing net train flows at all terminals provide a better description?; 6. Of interest is also the train formation principles for loaded trains. What distinguishes combi train, system train and wagon load train transports from one another?; 7. Suggest a method and model for a better handling of empty trains in Samgods; 8. Analyse the impact empty trains should have in Samgods.
