This report presents the results of our review of the costsharing arrangements for the airfield located at the Midway Atoll National Wildlife Refuge. The Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) is responsible for ensuring the continued operation of Midways airfield, which is owned by the Department of the Interior. This joint mission has led to a dispute over funding the airfields operating costs. Unless the two agencies want to operate independently of one another in remote field camps on Midway, they need to agree to control operating costs and equitably share these costs. |
