Hampshire Bus & Coach Preservation hosted a Bristol RE running day in Winchester on November 7. Among the group's own participating vehicles was PPM 210G, an ECW-bodied RESL6G new to Brighton Hove & District in July 1968 as its 210. It became 2210 after BH&D was combined with Southdown and later saw service in Portsmouth. It has been restored to National Bus Company leaf green Southdown livery from those later days in its operating life. Leyland continued to sell the Bristol RE to Northern Ireland state-owned operators after it ceased to be available in the rest of the UK and former Citybus 2565 (BXI 2565), with 52-seat Alexander (Belfast) body, represented the type at Winchester. |
