摘要：	Safe, efficient, and accessible public transportation is a key component of livable and sustainable transportation systems. It is therefore critical that both undergraduate and graduate-level Civil Engineering students have a better understanding of the planning, design, and operation of public transportation systems so they can improve or support these systems when they enter the workforce. Unfortunately, this material is not readily available in most university curriculums. Therefore, the main goal of this project is to develop a set of public transportation course modules for both the Introduction to Transportation (an undergraduate senior course) and a stand-alone Transit Planning and Operations course (a specialized graduate course) that will be shared and evaluated at different universities. The modules were designed to be easily applied by instructors with limited experience in the transit industry and in conducting transit systems research. The process for designing the modules included researching applicable literature, reaching out and collaborating with educators and practitioners, and mind mapping the core concepts needed for transportation practice. The modules were implemented, assessed and revised based on student learning outcomes.
