摘要: Cement concrete pavement has been employed as a major type of pavement structure all over the world. Cement Concrete (CC) pavement offers advantages of good serviceability, structurally sound, practically maintenance free, not sensitive to oil spillage or rainwater and longer service life. Bearing capacity of the soil does not have much effect on the thickness as compared to flexible pavement as load is distributed over the wider area. Nevertheless, CC pavement deteriorates with time. Thermal cracks reduce structural soundness and accumulated tire abrasions wear out the surface texture. Consequent partial or full depth repair of distresses like cracking/ skidding/ravelling etc in rigid pavement, the dismantling cost is very high and it is time-consuming. This also requires diversion of traffic as it needs at least 14 days of water curing and then joint cutting and sealing of dry CC pavement.
