The project focused on the development of an evaluation tool that predicts injuries resulting from activation and contact with the airbag,since there are special cases where the airbag is not optimally working(V <48 kph).The most common injuries are facial bone fractures,ocular and hearing injuries.The tool was developed and accomplished through a special mask that measures applied pressure to selected points of the face:nose tip,eyes,jaw.An additional dummy head with installed special microphones to measure sound and pressure levels inside the cabin during airbag activation in static and dynamic tests was also used. |
