This paper presents a staged approach of modeling with correlation against tests of increased complexity for drive side Out-of-Position (OoP) load-case.A full scaled mathematic model of a steering wheel with folded airbag is developed to evaluate the biomechanical injury criteria of a 5th percentile female dummy in an OoP situation with LS-DYNA.Corpuscular Particle Method (CPM) is adopted in this study to predict the interaction between airbag and occupant in OoP situations.Finally,the validated model is used in parametric studies to investigate the effects of airbag module design changes to dummy injuries. |
