The driving process is a complex behavior which combines reaction, operation, instinct, and attention. However, the driving behavior could be easily affected by lots of factors, including both exterior and interior. The automobile interior color, which is studied in this work, can be sorted as a kind of interior distractions. To obtain the effects of automobile interior color on driving performance,in this paper,a series of one-factor experiments have been conducted on a virtual environmentsimulator usingphysiological signals. Two different colors, red and parchment have been applied in experiments. In detail, two physiological measurements, heart rate signal and respiration signal have been monitored and collected from participants. Those can help to understand driving behavior and physiological state of drivers.By analyzing recorded data, which are heart rate, respiration rate, response time, and distance from automobile in front, the research described in this paper has verified and revealed that the color of automobile interior can relatively significantly affect drivers' performance. |
