With more stringent requirements and challenges for fuel consumption reduction of vehicles,technologies improving fuel economy of engines are applied by more automobile manufacturers.In this work,we document the effect of application of low friction technologies,variable coolant temperature control strategies and clutch water pumps on the specific fuel consumption of a V6 gasoline engine.The investigation result indicates that the fuel consumption is reduced by these technologies which will be applied in the new V6 gasoline engines in the future.Besides,the fuel economy of the vehicle with these technologies is evaluated by the grid measurement data to assess whether the requirement of the fuel consumption regulations is fulfiled. |
