December 2021 - Phase II to be built under single bore tunnel option; October 2021 - Federal Transit Administration (FTA) issued a Letter of Intent (LOI) to Santa Clara Valley Transportation Authority (VTA) stating its intention to obligate funds for phase II of project; June 2021 - RfQ launched for the phase II and stations; May 2021 - Santa Clara VTA has shortlisted three teams for the construction of tunnels as part of the BART Phase II; February 2021 - BART could get USD140mn grant to begin second phase; January 2021 - FTA has earmarked USD100mn to the VTA for phase II; November 2020 - Transportation Authority (VTA) has released a Request for Industry Feedback (RFIF) to gather information and gauge interest from the architects, engineers, contractors and subcontractors for the contract package that includes design and construction of the three underground stations; September 2020 - BART has recently released the first Request for Industry Feedback (RFIF) for tunnel and track work; June 2020 - Phase I officially opened while Phase II is currently in in the design and engineering phase; June 2019 - Milpitas and Berryessa Transit Centres (Phase I) are at final phase of testing; January 2019 - Contract worth USD125mn has been awarded to Mott McDonald and PGH Wong Engineering JV to provide general engineering services for Phase II; 16 miles extension is being carried out in 2 phases, 10 miles (16.09 km) Phase I (Alameda County to Santa Clara County) and 6 miles (9.65 km) Phase II (Berryessa Transit Centre to stations at Alum Rock/28TH Street, Downtown San Jose, Diridon Station with end of service in Santa Clara) |
