The purpose of this study is to understand the relationship between the existence of bleed water on the surface of the concrete at the time of curing compound application and the concrete's resistance to scaling. This study hopes to advance the findings from the Phase I study, without repeating the Phase I tests. Out of the six treatments (five curing compounds, one wet room curing) used in Phase I, one has been dropped and five remain. The five curing treatments that will be tested are standard wet room curing, linseed oil emulsion, wax emulsion, PAMS and acrylic sealing compound. The CRE sealing compound was dropped from Phase II because the acrylic sealing compound over all mix types had superior durability performance, coupled with the fact that the VOC's released by the CRE were flammable making it impractical for most applications. |
