摘要：	The objective of this project is to develop an ecological-based planning paradigm to promote greater collaboration among transportation planning agencies and public health agencies. In order to achieve this broad objective, the research will focus on: (1) Identifying the barriers that exist between agencies in the transportation planning and public health communities, as well as other agencies/key players in the public and private sectors with keen interests in transportation planning and regional development. (2) Understanding the reasons behind the jurisdictional and institutional barriers. (3) Developing a comprehensive tool in line with the emerging regional ecological framework to facilitate communication and collaboration among stakeholders in the transportation planning and healthcare communities to develop a shared vision for future infrastructure development. The proposed paradigm includes a set of policy suggestions, practical procedures and technical instruments for facilitating communications between the two communities in order to develop shared visions for urban growth and the development of transportation infrastructure.
