Digitization is a strategic means of streamlining the port call process, where the information exchange is still to a large extent manual. Increased real-time information sharing also creates the conditions for more optimized port calls, which creates the conditions for reduced emissions and climate impact. In this project, a number of maritime stakeholders are joining forces to carry out a number of separate case studies that exemplify the participating stakeholder’s areas of concern highlight the potential of a Digital Port Call Process. Collaboration with and between the players in the transport chain is a prerequisite for effects on a broad front. Initially, there are maritime associations (Swedish Ports Association, the Swedish Ship Agents Association and the Swedish Transport Council) and their members, such as Port of Gävle, Port of Norrköping, Port of Gothenburg, Port of Stockholm, Preem and Shorelink. From the public sector, the Swedish Maritime Administration and SMHI is initially participating. From the industy, SAAB participate. Through service development and an initial process review, the project will provide direct results as well as experiences of new ways of collaboration. The individual services make up a small part of the greater potential the partners will achieve through long-term collaboration. |
