摘要: The public sector passenger transport undertakings are constantly facing competition from other modes of transport viz. personalised vehicles, autos, maxi cabs, on-contract buses etc., inspite of nationalisation of routes. The technological development in communication system, particularly mobile phones, TV Channels, internet is also having significant impact on the transport pattern of masses. The public/passenger mobility from one place to another place for various purposes is expected to become more productive. Thus, it is essential for the public sector transport undertakings to initiate various passenger friendly activities. It is also essential to take steps to communicate these initiatives to the intending passengers and public at large so as to attract the passengers to the services of transport undertakings. A few such initiatives which were undertaken and implemented in Kumool Region (District) of Andhra Pradesh State Road Transport Corporation (APSRTC) and their effect on key result areas are discussed in the article.
