摘要: COMPRESSION-BEARING CAPACITY TESTS ARE TO BE UNDERTAKEN ON SHORT TEST OBJECTS CONSISTING OF (1) A STRIP-SHAPED "BASIC METAL SHEET" WHICH REPRESENTS THE SHEET TO BE STIFFENED WITH RESPECT TO BOUNDARY CONDITIONS, AND (2) A SHORT FOLDED HOLLOW STRUT MADE OF A 6 MM THICK SHEET WELDED ONTO THE BASIC SHEET. SUITABLE TECHNICAL MEASURES ARE TO BE TAKEN TO ENSURE THAT THE BUCKLING BEHAVIOUR OF THE CROSS SECTION OF THE STRUT IS NOT AFFECTED BY BUCKLING OF THE BASIC METAL SHEET. THE INTERACTION OF BOTH ELEMENTS DURING BUCKLING IS NOT TO BE CONSIDERED IN THE STUDY. THE GEOMETRIC PARAMETERS OF THE HOLLOW STRUT CROSS SECTION ARE TO BE VARIED, AND RECTANGULAR, TRIANGULAR AND SEMI-CIRCULAR STRUTS WILL BE INCLUDED.
