This study, completed by Boon Allen Hamilton in 1999, examines the feasibility of developing a 10-year program for modernizing and expanding the traffic management and control system in Mexico City. The program aims to sustain the city's economic vitality and public health by identifying and implementing technology-based solution that will help reduce traffic delays, fuel consumption, and air pollution. This study is founded on numerous face-to-face interviews and group discussions with the project stakeholders, various historical studies, extensive research and consultation with applicable product manufacturers and vendors, and comprehensive analysis of traffic operations at a representative sample of 183 traffic signals in Mexico City. The feasibility report is structured into 4 sections: (1) Intro; (2) Mexico City Legacy System; (3) Mexico City ITS Framework; (4) Implementation Plan. |
