摘要: Objectives: To: (1) demonstrate the wastewater treatment capabilities of biofilters, (2) determine effluent quality, (3) evaluate filter performance, (4) identify operating parameters that achieve effluent standards, and (5) calculate life-cycle system costs. R&D Results: This project tested three skid-mounted biofilters at pilot-scale for organic substrate (BOD, and TSS) removal, nitrification, and denitrification at the JSTP. The overall average effluent concentrations for both BOD, and TSS durins the entire study were 17 mg/l. The total nitrogen concentration was 6 mg/1. Shock loadings did not have a significant effect on the effluent concentrations of these parameters. Four wet weather simulation tests showed that the biofilters maintained a relatively high level of treatment during peak weather flows. TSS removed ranged from 88% to 97% and TKN removed was between 72% and 87%. The amount of BOD, was reduced by 40% to 73%. Average sludge yield was 0.75 lb TSS/lb BOD, removed
