A target high-speed transport trimaran was designed with Australian high-speed trimaran Benchijigua Express as the parent type.The resistance of this vessel was forecasted based on the linear wave-making thin-ship theory, which shows that the speed from the resistance theory calculation results under the main mechine power MCR is close to that from Benchijigua Express full scale test results and the linear wave-making theory can be employed for the practical high-speed trimaran resistance prediction.The wave form diagrams of the target high-speed trimaran calculated by the potential nonlinear panel methods were presented as the discrimination measures of the wave interference state among the piece hulls and the design guidance of the outrigger location.The monohull stability calculation methods are extended to the high-speed trimarans, based on which the transverse metacentric height and the stability arm curve initial segment of the target high-speed trimaran were calculated and analyzed. |
